Said to be the un-official historic capital of Malaysia, Malacca overflows with prominent attractions and tasty cuisine. Founded in the 1400’s by Sumatran prince, Parameswara, Malacca prospered as an international harbour due to its advantageous location.

The Dutch Heritage Trails Tour takes you on a journey to experience the heritage and traditions that have made Malacca – which was inhabited by the Portugese, British and Dutch over a period of four years – what it is today. Remnants of their respective governments can be seen all over the town from the A-Famosa fort to the nearby Stadhuys and Christ Church.

Travel back into the past 600 years as we depart by road for Malacca.

11:00 hrs.
On arrival, our tour starts with a visit to a traditional Melaka House. A typical Melaka house stands on 12 to 16 main pillars, usually two metres high with decorative flower motif tiled steps.
Next,a typical Melaka Mosque with its tired pyramid roof and a pagoda shaped minaret.
We will start the walking tour from the St Francis Xavier Church built in 1849, which features authentic French architectural design. We then visit the Stadthuys, built by the Dutch as the official residence of the Dutch governors before coming to the Christ Church, completed in 1753 with its bright red structure. We then ascend up St Paul's Hill to visit the St Paul’s Church where St Francis Xavier was temporary buried before his body was moved to Goa, India.
As we descend, we shall pass by the Melaka Sultanate Palace which is a wooden replica of the 15th century Malay Sultanate palace and Porta de Santiago which is part of the fortress of Fortaleza de Melaka built by the Portuguese.

12:45 hrs.
From Porta de Santiago, we take a trishaw ride passing by old Dutch buildings, the Sri Poyyatha Vinayagar Moorthi Temple, one of the first Hindu temple in Malaysia, Kampong Kling Mosque, which has a three-tier roof instead of the conventional dome, and a photo stop at the oldest functioning Chinese temple in Malaysia – Cheng Hoon Teng Temple.
